MDE-960 - The right RFID Modbus RTU reader for your charging infrastructure or industrial application
The MDE-950 is a high performance RFID reader equipped with RTU Modbus protocol and keyboard (PIN pad). The RFID reader is used worldwide and convinces by absolute reliability and high performance. Due to IP65 (jet water protection) it can be installed almost everywhere.
Classic application areas are:
- Access control
- Time recording
- Electronic payment systems
- Parking management.
In the field of electric mobility, the MDE-960 RFID reader is often used to activate charging processes at electric charging stations. With the MDE-960, the user group of the charging station can be precisely defined to prevent unauthorized access. At the same time, a charging process can be activated via the PIN pad even without a registered transponder, if this is desired. This is particularly relevant for semi-public charging stations. For example, employees can unlock the charging station in the parking garage via a transponder, while guests can be provided with a temporary PIN code.
At the same time, the transponders can also be used for user identification, e.g., to bill the charging time individually for each user. In addition to the release and billing of charging processes, data can also be collected in this way in order to provide customers with consumption and sales statistics at a later date. This increases the overview and transparency of how much electricity was actually refueled at the charging station.
The charging process can be easily activated contactlessly using RFID / NFC technology. To do this, a card or key fob (also called a keyfob) is held in front of the device. The reading distance is approximately 1-4 cm, depending on the type of card or transponder used. We will be happy to advise you on this individually.
Alternatively, the charging station can also be activated by entering a PIN code.
For applications with high security requirements, a combination of RFID transponder and PIN entry is also possible.
Matching the MDE-950 RFID reader, we also offer the right RFID or NFC cards or RFID or NFC keyfobs for your charging infrastructure. In addition to different security and encryption levels, the cards and keyfobs can also be individually printed and designed, e.g. with your own logo or company name.
An impressive alternative to classic printed RFID charging cards are our RFID LED cards. These have a built-in LED and are powered by the MDE-950 contactless using NFC technology, without the card needing its own battery or power source.
If the LED card is held in front of the reader, not only the charging process is started, but the LED of the card starts to light up due to the energy of the MDE-950 reader. This also gives the customer an additional visual feedback that his card is in the reading range of the charging station and that the communication between card and charging station is working. Embedded in your design, this creates a striking recognition value and an optimal eye-catcher.
